Baby Cribs: Safety Is Key

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

You have recently discovered that you’re expecting a baby. Even though you have other children, you have to have a look at cribs. Is the crib you already have an antique? You ought to look thoroughly at your second hand crib whether it’s an antique or not.

The safety of your new baby makes this necessary. The screws and/or other fasteners for example bolts must be in place and not loose. It’s of the greatest significance that this is examined before you place your baby in the crib.

Get something that is almost equal to your 4-month-old baby’s weight. In order to be certain that it will hold its position, bounce it off the mattress. If it doesn’t, your baby could possibly be hurt seriously or worse. If it isn’t set-up already, certainly think about where you’ll place your crib.

In case you have to place the crib near a window with Venetian blinds, you can possibly shorten the cords or anchor them to prevent your baby from reaching and getting hold of them. Avoid, when possible, placing the crib near the window. As your baby grows into a toddler and starts to climb out of the crib, s/he could get certainly harmed in a fall.

Blankets aren’t necessarily a good idea to use with your baby. Be certain that you avoid anything that could put your baby in danger, particularly in the light of SIDS incidents these days. The most recommended way to put your baby to bed is in a blanket sleeper.

Make sure to tuck the blanket tightly around and under the foot of the mattress with you baby’s feet touching the footboard if you must have a blanket on your baby.

There’s a risk of your baby sliding between the mattress and the bumper pads causing suffocation, if bumper pads, that are a great concept, are not secured correctly.

Even though mobiles are good additions, you have to take a safety measure to prevent your baby from getting entangled in it. It should be removed when your baby begins sitting up by himself. You must also check to see if there are small parts that are detachable that your baby could choke on.

The mattress should fit in the crib correctly. Your baby could slip between the mattress and side or end bars and suffocate in case you are not careful. The mattress should be snug in the crib. The sheets you use in your baby crib ought to fit correctly and not slip and slide.

Lower the mattress according to the growth and activity of your baby. If your baby can come to a standing position in the crib, the mattress should be placed in the lowest position and to add to his safety, you should measure the distance between the mattress and the top of the sidebar.

Foster Care

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

What is fostering? When children are at risk (young single mother living alone with baby) on drugs, when a girl underage is abused by step father, or young mother doesn’t want unborn new baby then local council social services will take the child in their care, once taken in care it could take two weeks or two years or twenty years depending on the situation.

Once taken in care, they need a family to look after the child. There are many independent agencies in the country they can place with or they could place the child with their in house foster carers.

Once been placed with the family, they will pay you FAT fees one child from 360-to 400 pounds per week per child, this is called allowance. If you have space for three children you could get up to 1000.00per week.

If you are looking after a child with special needs you could get up to 600 per week. If you are a foster carer for the agency then you likely to get more money because independent agencies charge the council up 900 per week “a day light robbery”. Each agency has over 100 children in their care, you can Imagine how much money they are making from those unfortunate children. But this is ok because this is there business, as long as you get half of that you should be happy.

The requirements are simple, you must have an extra room or rooms in your house/flat. You must have time, be keen, healthy and go through assessments. You will have to provide information on all your matters. A CRB check is crucial.

Once presented to the panel, the panel will recommend a decision maker for your approval. You will be notified of your approval, the children age range and the numbers of children you will look after this process will take over six months.

When the council needs a placement for a child in your your area, they will call you first. As a carer you will get support of social worker who will visit once a month, you look after the children, take care of there welfare, education, needs and health.

You must give proper care, spend time with them, take them out to the park, MacDonald, cinema, zoo, even in weddings, educate them about measuring life, show them your wedding photo albums, if you take them in Indian wedding trust me they will love Indian food and they will have children friendly meals at the weddings. They will make new friends and do not forget to take Indian wedding photography for there life story album. When they will leave your family they will have a picture of your family.

This placement could last days, weeks or years. Its dependent on whether the children go back to their own family or adopted by another family.

For more details you must contact your local council.

Anyway, before I end this article you must remember one thing at all time, this is that you are looking after other peoples children, you can not love them like your own, one day they will go, you can not keep them forever, you are a carer only then the key word is.

You must love money more then other peoples children, this is a full time job, you will get plenty money without going out to work.
